Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z Review | The Game Scouts

Tin Salamunic: Only four days since its release and Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z is getting critically panned across all major aggregate sites. Some critics even describe it as one of the worst games of the last generation. Im not exactly sure I understand or agree with those claims. Sure, the franchise has veered from its roots and Ninja Gaiden Z isnt nearly as exciting or polished as its predecessors, but its still enjoyable for anyone whos in the mood for fast paced and challenging ninja action. Im not trying to gloss over the games issues (and believe me, there are tons of them) but the unfavorable tongue-lashing seems unjustified. Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z is a spin-off. Its not meant to deepen Ryu Hayabusas core narrative; instead it takes a more obscure, almost satirical, approach that plays out like a combination of Suda 51s impish imagination and Mortal Kombat. | Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z (PlayStation 3) Review - Push Square

Push Square: "You don't have to actually enjoy misery and pain to pick up Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z, but it helps. When the difficulty isn't making you cry like a little girl, the terrible jokes and uneven gameplay probably will be. If you're the sort of person that enjoys a challenge and doesn't mind overlooking a few rustier moments, buy a box of super absorbent tissues and give this a go. Otherwise, just check out the hilarious zombie cutscene on YouTube you won't have missed a whole lot else."

From PSLS:
"Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z is a strange beast.
Bursting forth from the minds of Team Ninja, Spark Unlimited and Comcept, what we have here is one part graphic novel, one part zombie apocalypse and one part Ninja Gaiden. The concoction is something to wonder about, considering these three elements in and of themselves were, or are, fantastic things and together could appeal to many people."
